FoxIt Reader 2.0 Review

PDF is a document format that is universal whether you use Windows, Linux, Mac or any other operating system, this document format is one that can make any type of document portable.

When it comes to PDF readers to Windows, there is not really much of an offering to chose from whereas Linux and Mac might have other alternatives. Well, right now, there is a new alternative for Windows and that is FoxIt Reader.

Functionality

FoxIt reader is minuscule in size (1.5 MB) compared to Adobe Reader (21 MB), but don’t let size fool you because bigger does not always mean better. In the past, Adobe was plagued by extreme waits for PDFs to load up and use a considerable amount of resources to display the document, with version 7, that was fixed but still resources might be key for those people who don’t have a lot of system resources.

FoxIt Reader has quite a bit of functional components for it being a free reader. Just like Adobe Reader, FoxIt will allow you to fill in forms, select portions of text and have it copy to the clipboard and more. Another interesting feature is the ability to just view text. If for example you were reading a magazine in PDF format, you might just want to read the articles without seeing the graphics; with FoxIt, you can just do it as simple as clicking a button.

Conclusion

Well now that we do not have to rely on Adobe Reader anymore as our only option when it comes to viewing PDF files in Windows, FoxIt does everything quickly and easily without using a lot of resources. FoxIt is also has the capability of having more options but those come at a cost.

From now on, when it comes to viewing PDF files, FoxIt should be your only option since it loads quicker and does not hurt your system’s performance at all.
